Dario Princic 2018

Dario Princic: is a leading producer of macerated white wines. He commenced working in his family vineyards as a child and since 1988 has cultivated his own vineyards without chemicals, utilising biodynamic farming principles. Dario commenced bottling his own wines in 1993. Today he owns 7 hectares of low yielding, close-planted guyot trained vines in the tiny hamlet of Oslavia on Italy's border with Slovenia. The vines are planted in the limestone rock called Ponka, a crumbly clay marl derived from sandstone which produces powerful, age worthy wines. Harvest is by hand, fermentation is in open oak vats, and maceration lasts between 10 and 30 days with final aging in very old barriques that no longer release any wood flavour. His wines have intensity, elegance and freshness. Less than 26,000 bottles per year are produced. Dario Princic is located in Oslavia in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, very close to the Slovenian border.
