2015 Pierre Overnoy & Manu Houillon Poulsard
Poulsard, also known as Ploussard, is a red grape variety native to the Jura. It often produces light-bodied and elegant wines with delicate aromas and pale red color.
This fortunate bottle we drank at La Cachette in Geloong was Pale ruby to light red color, translucent with a slightly hazy garnet color. Fragrant and floral, with notes of red berries such as cranberry, raspberry, and wild strawberry. Hints of herbs, spice, and earthiness.
The palate was Light-bodied with moderate acidity. Delicate and refined, with flavors of red fruits, especially raspberry, and cherry. Also a slight herbal or vegetal character. Tannins were soft and gentle, providing a smooth mouthfeel. The finish was clean and pleasant.
