Poulsard (also Ploussard ) is a red French wine grape variety from the Jura wine region. The name Ploussard is used mainly around the town of Pupillin but can appear on wine labels throughout Jura as an authorized synonyms . While technically a dark-skinned noir grape , the skins of Poulsard are very thin with low amounts of color - phenols and produces very pale colored red wines, even with extended maceration and can be used to produce white wines . Because of this, Poulsard is often blended with other red-skin varieties or used to produce lightly colored rosé wines. Additionally the grape is used to make blanc de noir white wines and sparkling cremants . JACQUESSON Champagne The NV Brut Cuvee N° 735 is a gorgeous, fleshy wine laced with radiant fruit. Lemon, white flowers, spices, satisfying Champagne. A round, creamy finish wraps things up in style. The 735 got better and better over time, always a good sign. The 735 is 72% 2007 juice, 47% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier. It is a bit richer, rounder and express very well the terroir where is coming from. It is a wine with richness and power. The touch of steel give a great final bite. I drank the bottle with a basmati risotto with saffron e leeks to start and finish with poached spring onion blenched in butter with button mushroom caramelized on honey and fennel pollen dehydrate. look this video a bit rude about Jean Herve Chiquet talking on Italians spoken second language, envy perhaps for our beautiful climate and land...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuhW1Hs8_FY

From the website of the winery: http://www.huet-echansonne.com/Accueil/index.html Le Mont 2010, Domaine Huet Vouvray Aoc In modern agriculture, with the race on for so-called viability and for ever-more intensive productivity, the use of chemicals is constantly increasing. However, the use of chemical weedkillers, insecticides, acaricidal pesticides and systemic compounds (which penetrate into the plant's circulatory system) completely destroys the balance of the soil and the environment. When you kill insects, you also wipe out their natural predators. When you use weedkillers, you destroy all the flora, good and bad alike. The roots remain near the surface of the soil, making the plant more susceptible to drought. The water table becomes polluted. Wine growers and fruit growers are reduced to treating their crops dressed up as astronauts in order to protect themselves. Rural farmers are constantly approached by salesmen from the huge multinational...

A carefully sorted (for grey rot, underripe bunches) but inclusive (of noble rot, and ripe berries, both turgid and shrivelling) pick, in a season that willed 25% botrytis. Whole bunch pressed, no settling, no fining agents. Indigenous fermentation of 17 months. Bottled December 2009, on the summer equinox. Alcohol 13.7%, pH 3.41, TA 5.8 g/l, RS 15g/l. Production 190 cases. Brilliant yellow gold. Powerful bouquet of yellow fruits - mirabelle, muskmelon, Golden Queen peach - and herb and weed flowers: chamomile, wild fennel, goldenrod. Also an unusual, but intriguing musky/dusty note, no doubt from the noble rot. Wonderfully rich and broad, mouthcoating and expansive, but with no troubling loss of detail or energy. Slippery and insistent at the same time. Long, complex, rip...
