2020 "Cantina Giardino" Gaia - Paski - Tarara - Volpe Rosa.

Cantina Giardino are located in
Contrada Petrara, 21/B, 83031 Ariano Irpino AV, Italy.
Very close to the famous DOCG of Campania, "Taurasi". They actually own vineyard in the famous "Montemarano cru". All their vineyards  are on many soil types as calcareous marls, volcanic deposits and limestone.
Antonio and Daniela from Giardino are famous to preserve old vineyards in Irpinia and around Campania, always with high altitude. They also try to preserve the region’s authoctonous grape varietals as Coda di Volpe bianca and Coda di Volpe Rosso, preserving old vines and try to express them in a very pure terroir driven. All the wines fermented spontaneous with their own yeast, sulphur is never added at any stage. The farming is pure and ancient without chemical; also they try to speak with nature to adapt the vintage to the millésime. The wines ageing in terracotta amphorae and large casks made with local chestnut made by a Cooper in the area, with no additions at all.
Cuvées from 2020 vintage:
2020 Cantina Giardino Gaia
Daniela & Antonio get their fiano from one of the historical area of the Fiano di Avellino appellation: Lapio and Candida; 450-500 m above sea level planted in calcareous marls, limestone and clay. Four days of maceration on skins before going into chestnut botti for one year.
Sharp mineral tension, lots of energy.
2020 Cantina Giardino Paski
70 years old vineyards of Coda di Volpe at about 450 meters above sea level. Only a couple of days on the skins then it ferments and ages in chestnut barrels. Pure energy, marked minerality and a refreshing herbaceous note.
2020 Cantina Giardino Tarara
The "Tarara" is a pure and generous white wine from Irpinia, from Greco grapes grown on the highest vines of the estate located at 650 meters above sea level. 4 days maceration on the skins and the spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts make it an authentic and artisanal wine, 12 months in oak casks and in bottle without filtrations and adding sulphites.
Ample nose from stone fruit to ripe white pulp fruit. Low acidity compare with his siblings, spice and textural nose.
 2020 Cantina Giardino Volpe Rosa
Coda di Volpe Rosso 100%. Ancient vines that grow, as per tradition, alongside Aglianico grapes. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration on the skins for 2 days, 12 months in used chestnut barrels and 6 months in the bottle. Cantina Giardino's "Volpe Rosa" is a gem of the Irpinia area produced from a very rare grape, the Code di Volpe Rossa. Medium deep Rose in color, notes of ripe cheerry along, plum and pomegranate. Acidity is high and refreshing, the palate is full but energetic.
